About CardifyAI

Learn exactly how to use the dashboard, guest mode, browser extension, branch mode, per-card image uploads, and exports with simple, visual steps.

Web App Dashboard

Paste notes or upload PDFs, choose how many cards you want, and generate flashcards in seconds. You can even try it in guest mode (3 cards/day) with no account.

  • Paste lecture notes or textbook sections
  • Upload PDF slides or handouts
  • Preview, remove individual cards, and export your deck when signed in
  • Basic and above: upload images to the front or back of individual cards (optimized layout for external flashcard apps)
  • Signed-in users unlock higher daily limits, downloads, and the browser extension
Browser Extension

Highlight any text on the web and send it straight into CardifyAI with one click. The extension is included for all signed-in plans and uses the same daily limits as the dashboard.

  • Works on articles, browser PDFs, and online notes
  • Prompted for how many cards you want
  • Auto-opens CardifyAI with everything ready to generate
  • Chrome Web Store listing is currently pending approval — a developer build works now, full store release is coming soon.
Export to Flashcard Apps

Download your deck as Anki (.apkg), CSV, or JSON and import into your favorite flashcard app. Any cards you remove in the preview — and any images you do not attach — stay out of the exported file.

  • One-click Anki export (.apkg), including attached images
  • CSV for Quizlet and spreadsheets (with image references where supported)
  • JSON for advanced workflows
  • Exports always reflect your latest edited deck (after deletions and image uploads)

1. Using the CardifyAI Dashboard

The dashboard is the core of CardifyAI. You’ll use it to turn your raw study material into clean, exportable flashcards — whether you’re testing it in guest mode (3 cards/day) or signed in with higher limits and more features.

Step 1 · Open the Dashboard

  1. Go to the CardifyAI website. You have two options:
    • Guest mode: click Dashboard without signing in (3 cards/day, preview only, no downloads or images).
    • Sign in with Google or email: unlock saved decks (via exports), downloads, the browser extension, per-card image uploads (Basic+), and higher daily limits:
      • Free: 5 cards/day
      • Basic: 200 cards/day
      • Premium: 1,000 cards/day
      • Professional: 5,000 cards/day
  2. Click Dashboard in the top navigation bar.
  3. You’ll see the Source Text box, PDF upload field, card count input, and (if your plan supports it) the Branch mode toggle and options.

Step 2 · Add your study material

  1. Option A – Paste text:
Copy your lecture notes, textbook paragraphs, or high-yield bullets and paste them into the Source Text box.
  2. Option B – Upload a PDF:
Click the Upload a PDF field and select your slides or handouts. If you also pasted text, CardifyAI will combine both.
  3. In the Number of Base Cards field, enter how many flashcards you’d like (for example, 25, 50, or 100). This is the count of the main “parent” cards the AI will generate directly from your content.
  4. Optional (Premium / Professional / Admin): turn on Branch mode to have CardifyAI generate deeper “branch” cards off each base card, using the parent Q/A as context. You can choose:
    • Standard: 1–3 extra cards per base (up to 40 base cards)
    • 40-base mode: targets ~40 base cards with branching
    • Unlimited branching (Professional only): uses your remaining daily limit to add as many branch cards as possible

Step 3 · Generate, edit, add images, and preview your deck

  1. Click the Generate Flashcards button.
  2. A short loading message will appear while CardifyAI processes your content.
  3. After generation, scroll down to the Preview section to review each front (question) and back (answer).
  4. If branch mode is enabled (Premium / Professional), you’ll see additional deeper cards related to each topic. These are tagged with a small “B” badge in the UI so you can spot them quickly; this tag is not included in exported files.
  5. You can remove individual cards from the preview with the Remove button. Removed cards will not be included in any exports.
  6. On Basic, Premium, and Professional plans, you’ll also see an Upload Image option next to each card. You can:
    • Choose whether the image appears on the front or back of the card.
    • Upload diagrams, figures, charts, or any visual aid that clarifies the concept.
    • CardifyAI automatically formats and sizes the image to fit the flashcard area in external apps without overlapping the text, while still leaving room for the written content.
  7. Once you’re happy with the cards and images, you’re ready to download your deck and import it into your flashcard app.

2. Using the CardifyAI Browser Extension

The extension lets you highlight text anywhere on the web and instantly send it into CardifyAI without leaving the page. It works with the same daily limits as the dashboard and is available for all signed-in plans.

Note: You must be signed in to use the extension. The extension is included for Free, Basic, Premium, and Professional users, but your plan still controls how many cards you can generate per day. The official Chrome Web Store listing is currently pending approval; a developer build is available until the public listing goes live.

Step 1 · Install the extension, highlight text, and send it to CardifyAI

  1. Sign in on the CardifyAI website and open the Dashboard.
  2. In the Browser Extension section on the right, click the link for your browser (Chrome/Chromium). Until the Chrome Web Store listing is approved, you may see instructions for adding the developer build.
  3. In your browser, complete the installation and (optionally) pin the CardifyAI extension icon so it’s easy to click.
  4. Navigate to any article, browser-rendered PDF, or online notes.
  5. Use your mouse to highlight the text you want to study.
  6. Click the CardifyAI extension icon (or use the right-click context menu option). If you’re not signed in, you’ll be redirected to the login page before continuing.
  7. When prompted, choose how many flashcards you want to generate (for example, 20) and confirm. The extension respects your plan’s daily limit and won’t exceed the remaining cards for the day.
  8. The extension opens your CardifyAI Dashboard with the text and requested card count already filled in. CardifyAI then generates the flashcards.
  9. Scroll down to preview the deck, remove any cards you don’t want, optionally add images (Basic+), and then export your deck.

3. Exporting & Importing into Your Flashcard App

Once you like your deck (after removing any cards you don’t want and adding images on Basic+), you can export it and bring it into Anki or any other flashcard app that supports CSV or JSON.

Step 1 · Name your deck, export from CardifyAI, and import into your flashcard app

  1. On the Dashboard, scroll to the Preview and Download Deck section.
  2. Make any final edits by using the Remove button beside cards you don’t want. The exported deck will only include the remaining cards and any images you’ve attached.
  3. Click one of the download buttons. You’ll be prompted to name your deck file (no extension needed); CardifyAI automatically appends .apkg, .csv, or .json depending on the format you choose.
  4. Choose your preferred format:
    • Anki (.apkg) – best for direct Anki use, with images embedded.
    • CSV – for other flashcard apps or spreadsheets (with image fields where applicable).
    • JSON – for custom tooling or advanced workflows.
  5. Click the download button and save the file to a folder you can easily find.
  6. Open the Anki desktop app (or your preferred flashcard app).
  7. Go to File → Import (or the app’s import/upload option).
  8. Select the file you downloaded from CardifyAI.
  9. Your cards (and any attached images) will appear inside your flashcard app, ready for review and scheduling.

Important: CardifyAI itself does not store decks long-term; you must import the downloaded file into your flashcard app to save and review the cards over time.
